A litle while after Dungeon siege 2 came out, it was fairly non advertised but the fans knew about it. Most people didn't fall in love with it but it was a dungeon siege game and it had the graphic elements to go with it (seriously these graphics used to be awesome at the time). I personaly heard about it late (being still young) played it, it was full of bugs but enjoyable and also it was a dungeon siege game so i was happy with it.Why do i talk about the precedents of Dungeon siege 3?

Katarina

Because one of the major points of this review will be the name they gave to the game.Anyhow enough about the past, let's talk about the present. I've played 4 hours of dungeon siege 3 on PC yesterday. Here's what i think the game looks like so far.Dungeon siege 3 is an Action RPG based on the DS series (storywise), the main problem is that it does not play anywhere near how the first two did. Also it is the most obvious console port to a PC i have ever seen.Main issues with the game:-Obvious Console port, seriously you feel like they are trying to make you play your keyboard/mouse like its a 2 analog controller, it just doesn't feel right. Also, nothing is re-mapable keywise, they pretty much went with the most counter-intuitive shorcuts for the ingame menu (c). Other than that, just by the look of the actual menus you can see it was made for consoles, big simplistic bubbles that you cannot select properly to read with the mouse. Glad you found it spot on, im a bit sad that some people felt the need to downvote a review that i took time to writte to help people decide about this game but hey support like yours makes up for it:)If you like Action rpgs just try it (rent it if you have a console) its not god awfull like people paint it to be and it actualy poses a challenge (at least as the ranged girl).

I kept my preorder because i wanted my DS1 and DS 2 that came with it, my cds are long gone /fuck you young me:P and now im happy with them!. I disagree with this game being an 7-8 regardless of what background you have.I've sat through and played through the game, and the dialogue really bothers me. Gran turismo 7 for pc. It feels inorganic at times. For example, at one point i'm talking with 3 other npcs and we're talking about very big important plot details.

One of the characters keeps referring to one of the other characters in third person even though he's standing right there next to her. It's like they're all having 1 on 1 interactions with you simultaneously rather than a dialogue involving the 4 of you together, if that makes any sense. Also, for story telling the voice acting is OK but that's the only thing that really attempts to convey emotion or story. The NPCs have no body language.

They don't pace, they don't move, they just stand in their spot and talk to you face to face the whole time. Compelling. There's barely any replay value. After you blow through the game once, your character you invested 10+ hours into can't do anything. You can't start a new game at a harder difficulty with the same equipment and level. You start the campaign over at level 1.There's no reason to play the same character more than once. The 'customization' if thats what you can even call it amounts to which one of your abilities you want to do% more damage and etc. You have your 9 abilities, and that's it.

There's no different skill branches you can explore, just different talents that only modify the numbers on the spells/abilities you have. The difficulty of normal mode is a joke. I understand there's a harder difficulty for those who want a challenge, but really normal difficulty should not be such that you NEVER die. I only died once my first play through and that was because I just got bored and didn't pay attention to my health bar.As a 50 dollar title, I'd give this game a 4. It just doesn't deliver as an action rpg. Poor story telling single player campaign, very limited re-playability, absolutely terrible difficulty scaling between normal and hard mode, paltry character customization, and the fighting just gets repetitive. I would agree with you IF i considered some of the points you mentioned important. Most of the RPGS i loved and enjoyed did not have 'character interactions' during talk sessions, so having that is alwaysa PLUS for me but not having it is not a Minus. As for difficulty i dont know which character you first played but like i said the ranger actualy has a tought time because you CANNOT let ANYTHING get in melee with you.

So a lot of rolling action is required. But i can understand that the warrior must have a way easier time. The abilities indeed lack dept, but like i said I do not expect dept from an Action RPG, action rpgs tend to suck in this way, lots of combat, fast paced but litle to no dept. (i guess ive been accostomed to this). As for you note this is where i need to explain my scale1-4 FUck this game it shoudln't be released.5-6 meh if you realy want to play it go for it or if it's on sale.6-7 It's got it's moment.7-8 Its a decent game considering the genre / audience it targets8-9 Good/great game could become fan favorite for the genre (moretowards 9).9-10 Fantastic a future classic everyone should try this.So the 8 would only apply for a newcommer to the series that will play it on consoles. Play with me horror game online. As in decent/good game for the genre. But i get where you come from and that your expectations for an action rpg are higher than mines so i see why you would rate it this way. Even if the characters didn't interact with one another or move, it bothered me how they always referred to each other in the third person even though they are right next to each other.

It's a very unnatural way of talking. As for actual combat, playing on multiplayer was extremely frustrating. At one point my friend and I are fighting a big boss named Warbeast, and it charges in and out of combat while smaller mobs come and attack you to distract you. Since we have the two of us on the screen we never could get the screen in a position to actually see where its about to charge from. Combat should be difficult because the monsters are tough and they have unique spells or attacks that have to be well timed to dodge, not because the camera system you designed only works for single player and doesn't adapt well when you have 2+ players in the game.I can see this as a maybe 6 (meh get it if you really want it) for a single player game. But for 50 dollars and as a multiplayer experience (the one commercial I saw had those two goofy looking guys with the swords fighting stuff), I just can't accept it. Solid 4. My favorite example of horrid writing is when My character (was playing katarina) met her half brother for the first time and learned who he was.then never bothered to even mention it to him.Even that was not nearly so ridiculous as the conversation that occurred whn I returned from the whatever-weald.

Absolutely no mention was made of the fairly important details concerning how my fiery friend had no recollection of being told exactly where she came from and how she came to be in the care of the legion.Holes everywhere. I the first chapterhouse I found a scroll that told of the need to remove a certain monster from a certain cave when time was available. 30 years later when I am asked to complete this task I get no convo option at all excpet 'ok' or sme version of no.There also seems to be no gear scaling at all in teh game My only real upgrade have come from things I bought at the store.Legendary ITEMS!
